The CIS Meeting on Tobacco Control Framework Convention project of World Health Organization was held at Diseases Prevention Center in Moscow on September 28-29.
Representatives from Georgia - Vasil Tkeshelashvili and Kakhaber Gvinianidze raised on Meeting new conceptual approach issues of Convention.

Meeting with Tobacco Manufacturing and Importer Organizations

According to insisted demand of Tobacco Manufacturing and Importer Organizations the meeting was held at Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Defense on 08.00 p.m., February 4, 2002. The tobacco industry was represented by Head persons of all local manufacturing and importing organizations and officers from Georgian Tax-Payers Union. The government was presented by Minister of Labor, Health and Social Defense - Mr. Amiran Gamkrelidze and Minister of Taxes - Mr. Levan Dzneladze. NGO sector was composed by Head of Anti-tobacco National Center - Mr. Gela Kobeshavidze, and NACC/UCCC President - Mr. Vasil Tkeshelashvili. The last presented the American Cancer Society CEO - Mr. John Seffrin's Support letter, 20 medical NGOs open announcement and in uncompromised social position.
