NACC Projects in 1999-2000 Refused the Funding from Different Donor Organizations

Since 1999, NACC has prepared the 15 projects, which failed the getting of funding: 14 for granting from different foundations and 1 for humanitarian aid for refugees from Direct Relief International (DRI).

Mentioned 14 projects were introduced to following foundations:
1. OSGF – 8 projects;
2. “Horizonti” (ISAR) Foundation – 3 projects;
3. United Nations Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator – 1 project;
4. IREX - 1 project;
5. Eurasia Foundation - 1 project.

Failed projects were the following:
1. “Creation of National Association of Cancer Control” – requested funding from Eurasia Foundation – 7,000 US $ (1999);
2. “Creation of Caucasian Association of Cancer Control” – requested funding from OSGF – 1,999 US $ (1999);
3. “Creation of National Association of Cancer Control Home Page (NACC HP), Edition of Monograph: Lung Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention and it’s inclusion on NACC HP” – requested funding from OSGF – 4,000 US $ (1999);
4.“Starting of changes and amendments preparation of legislation on population social defense and health care, environment protection, agriculture, manufacturing, trading- and advertising, custom-and taxing fields and systems; working out of intersectional execution mechanisms for population protection from carcinogenic agents exposition and health hazardous substances reglamentation” – requested funding from “Horizonti” (ISAR) Foundation – 8,000 US $ (1999);
5. “Creation of Caucasian Network of Cancer Control” – requested funding from OSGF – 5,000 US $ (1999);
6. “Creation of Caucasian Inter-State Information- and Communication System and Starting of Tele-medical Consulting Organization” - requested funding from OSGF – 9,741 US $ (1999);
7. “Tele-Cytological Screening of Female’s Reproductive System Cancer Due to Tele-Morphological Connection of Tbilisi Female’s Consultation Office No 8 with National Cancer Center” - requested funding from OSGF – 8,000 US $ (1999);
8. “Establishing of Tele-Medical System Between Tbilisi and Batumi Cancer Centers and Organization of Tele-Morphological Cancer Screening and Early Detection ” - requested funding from OSGF – 15,000 US $ (1999);
9. “Reproductive System’s Organs Cancer Screening in High Cumulative Risk Females” - requested funding from OSGF – 6,000 US $ (2000);
10. “Reproductive System’s Organs Cancer Prevention in 100 000 Female IDPs in Tbilisi & Batumi Regions with Implementation of Tele-Cytological Screening” - requested funding from United Nations Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator – 100,000 US $ (2000);
11. “Insurance on Lung and Reproductive System Cancer Prevention of Refugees and Unprotected Elders in Tbilisi and Tskhneti” - requested funding from “Horizonti” (ISAR) Foundation – 20,000 US $ (2000);
12. “Implementation of Cancer Risk Reducing 10 Steps of Healthy Life Style in Socially Unprotected Population with High Cancer Risk” – requested funding from OSGF – 5,000 US $ (2000);
13. “Population Education, Training of Oncologists and General Practitioners by Cooperation of Public Health Department and National Association of Cancer Control” – requested funding from “Horizonti” (ISAR) Foundation – 8,000 US $ (2000);
14. “Organization of Trans- Caucasian Alliance of Cancer Control” – requested funding from IREX – 10,000 US $ (2000);
15. “DRI Humanitarian Complex Medical Care Organized by NACC for 100 000 Socially Undefended Persons- Refugees, Elderies, Children and Disables- at Cancer and General Medical Centers and Out-Patient Clinics, Located at Places Organized Settled by Refugees in Georgia” - requested funding from DRI– 1,000,000 US $ (2000).

The total budget of failed projects is more than 1,207,000.00 US $, but it should be mentioned that despite the refusing on funding from different donor organizations, some of the projects were realized (NACC and UCCC were organized, NACC Site was created).

NACC\UCCC hopes that other not financed activities (organization of Tele-medical service and conduction of leading cancer sites screening) will get the funding in nearest future.
